Saving The Golden Goose: Where The True Gold Lies

I remember as a child being fascinated by a small aspect of a
much larger fairy tale in Jack and the Beanstalk. I guess I have
never really been enamored with conquest and really thought that
Jack was a thief, but I loved the hen that laid the golden eggs.

The original source of course was Aesop, who told a tale with a
moral core in The Goose that laid the golden egg. A man and his
wife had the good fortune to possess a goose that laid a golden
egg every day. For a while they were happy and lived well, but
then they became impatient with how quickly they were
accumulating their wealth. So they thought that if the goose
could lay such a fine egg of gold, it must be lined with the
precious metal. If they cut the goose open, they could get the
gold all at once. Of course we all know what happened, the goose
was just a goose and there was no gold inside.

For Aesop, the moral of the story was much wants more and loses
all. I think there is also a hidden message, true gold comes
from the process of creating.

You, my dear Diva, are a Golden Goose. Each day you lay multiple
golden eggs throughout your life. They are often disguised as
meals for loved ones, staying a little later at work to help
your boss or co-workers, volunteering at the church or PTA,
working on your cross-stitch or scrapbooking or on a passion of
your heart. Everything that you do, each and every day, that
brings a blessing to another is a golden egg. Like the goose in
the story, you know how to lay the eggs. How well do you care
for the goose?

If you are at all like me, and I think you are, we are very,
very hard on the goose. Instead of recognizing all the golden
eggs she has laid, and being thankful, we, like the greedy man
and woman in the story, expect more, more, more. It is time that
we honor the goose and forget about the eggs. If the goose is
well cared for, the eggs will come, won’t they! Here are 7 lucky
tips for the care and feeding of the golden goose:

1. Take one day off a week from work. The Sabbath is there for a
reason, even God rested. “and on the seventh day God ended his
work which he had made; and he rested…” Genesis 2:3

2. Feather your own nest. I have the most wonderful bed linens,
I feel like a princess every night when I go to bed. I have 2
feather mattresses and a silk, down comforter. I bought them at
a discount store we have called, Tuesday Morning. Scour the town
for one of your own. You will sink into luxury and know you are
special, each and every night.

3. Nurture another golden goose. Identify a friend or a loved
one running on fumes. Pick up her kids after school, take over
the scout meeting for her, bring her a home-cooked dinner (just
double your batch) and leave it on the step. Why do we have to
wait until we are struck down with a catastrophic illness or
event to reach out to each other? Let’s start a prevention
program with our circle of women before the goose is cooked.

4. Feed your spirit daily. Find a quick, easy message that
inspires you every day. One way with us is to sign up for the
Daily Diva Word, it’s a free, quick pick me up that comes in
your email.

5. Turn off the noise. Have a quiet time each day to shift
gears. If you work outside of the home, plan just 15 minutes of
alone time in your car before you pick the kids up, or rush to
the store. Get a great CD or tape and play it, all alone in your
car as you change states from employee to mom, wife or sane
woman.

6. Become a Teacher. The only way that we ever learn anything
new is from someone else. As you begin to value yourself as the
Golden Goose you really are, you’ll begin to notice other women
struggling to do it all. Share what you have learned with them
and what helps you feel good about yourself.

7. Never Mistake the Egg as the Gift. We have become a society
that values things more than people. It is often joked,
tongue-in-cheek that you are only as good as your last
accomplishment. That is the ultimate lie. We are not a
collection of the things that we do, the sale that we make, or
the goal that is conquered. You are the gift. You are the Golden
Goose. The egg is just the last thing you created.

Wherever you are right now in your life, please stop for a
moment and hear this truth. The true gold lies not in the
outcome or accomplishment, it is in the process of creating.
When you give yourself a little space and care for the golden
goose inside you, you will once again lay a golden egg. Don’t
worry, there is no where to go, you have everything you need for
the blissful life you desire. You just forgot where the true
gold lives–inside of you.

All the best, Maureen

Acne Sufferers Look Fabulous This Holiday Season With Natural Mineral Makeup

The holidays are fast approaching, and for many acne sufferers
they’re dreaded because of the cofines of friends and family.
With that many people close, it’s hard to get excited when you
know they’ll get a close glimpse at your acne prone skin.

The natural inclination is to smear loads o concealer and
foundation over blemishes to hide them from a close examination.
But drugstore foundations that are manufactured by big brands
such as CoverGirl, Maybelline, Loreal and others are ridden with
oils, chemicals, preservatives and other pore clogging
unmentionables.

Caking on these foundations can be more trouble than it’s worth
because they cause further blemishes and most times major break
outs. That’s not a scenario that most acne sufferers would
associate with “happy” holidays. So what’s the average sufferer
to do to avoid this dreaded scenario?

Mineral Makeup is the most popular trend - recommended by
dermatologists the world over and used by hollywood celebrities
because of it’s many benefits to acne sufferers. Mineral makeup
is an all natural makeup that is made with minerals from the
earth. The minerals are highly water proof so they help to
dehydrate and thus kill off the bacteria in your pores that
causes cystic acne.

Dermatologists are calling mineral Makeup the “skin care” makeup
because it is so gentle to the skin that you can actually sleep
in it. The mineral are ground so fine that they are too small to
clog pores. instead they “lay” on the skin as little flakes that
interlace to protect the skin from moisture getting in and
feeding acne causing bacteria. The overlying flakes still allow
the skin to “breathe” while shielding off this moisture.

The two primary ingredients in mineral makeup are Zinc Oxide and
Titanium Dioxide. If you read makeup labels then you probably
recognize these two minerals. That’s because they appear in
virtually every sunblock on the market for their full range UV
sunblocking abilities. That’s right, Mineral Makeup is a natural
sunblock as well, which means all that sunlight reflecting off
the snow as you build snowmen and go sleding this holiday season
is blocked by your mineral makeup. Sumblock is just as important
to your skin health in the winter as it is in the summer.

And Mineral Makeup looks fabulous when you wear it. It is
delivered to you in powder form and goes on very smoothly, it is
so light weight that many people forget they are wearing it.
This light weight quality helps it to blend seamlessly into the
skin for a beautiful natural look.

Considering the many benefits of using mineral makeup could
really help to turn your holidays into the “happy” holidays we
all dream of.

A diamond is considered to be women’s best friend. But having
this best friend is not an easy affair. One needs to shell out a
huge amount for it. In that case, diamond replica jewelry comes
as an easy way out. It is exactly the same as real diamond
jewelry, but the only difference is that it is a replica.
Diamond replicas have also become a rage these days. The

fashion statement and comes in the market as diamond replica
jewelry.

your fiancé. Diamond rings and bands are also ideal as a gift.
Fine diamond jewelry must be the main priority when buying
diamond jewelry. A diamond is also said to be forever, so even
if you buy it generally it will be a treasured possession.

Diamond is one of the Indian astrological stones. Many a times, a
diamond is prescribed for astrological reasons. Amongst all the
gemstones, diamond is considered to be the most expensive. If
you want to wear a diamond for astrological reasons a diamond
ring appears to be the best option. A diamond is said to add its
sparkling rays in a positive manner to your life.

Diamond bracelets and diamond bangles are also very beautiful
and add a beauty to your wrist. Diamond necklace jewelry and

jewelry, Jaipur Jewelers are the leaders in the field.

A Man’s Guide To The Embarrassment Of Buying Lingerie

Lets face it, we men are obsessed with women’s bodies and yet if
I needed to tell someone the size of her breasts the best I
could probably muster would be “just about right” and if she
were to ask me right now what her dress size was I would
probably mutter that it didn’t make her bum look big at all.
This is in part due to my ever-present attempt to gain brownie
points and not spend the night sleeping in the kitchen with the
dog, but it is in one big part due to my ignorance. Ask her what
size my waist is and she could tell you without a second’s
hesitation. It really isn’t that difficult to find out this
information either and the list of instructions on how to find
out would consist solely of:

1 - Open cupboard door. 2 - Remove appropriate garment. 3 -
Check label and make mental note of size.

Even my brain could cope with that first thing in the morning
but despite telling myself I should do it I never actually
remember to. This could partially be because there is something
instilled in the back of my brain that tells me the second I
remove her bra and start ferreting around inside it, her mother
is bound to burst down the front door unannounced and catch me
in the act of apparently sniffing, or worse still putting on,
her beloved daughter’s bra. This really isn’t a situation I want
to find myself in but if I want to please her (my partner, not
her mother) then I should do it. In fact, every man should do
it. Go to your wife or girlfriend’s closet and find out her bra
size. Write it on a piece of paper and secrete it in your wallet
if necessary.

Of course, even once I know the size of her bra that doesn’t
make the actual selection any easier. As a general rule of
thumb, I’m led to believe that a black latex nurse’s outfit is
not considered to be either lingerie or indeed comfortable so I
will try to steer clear of that as far as possible, no matter
how appealing they look. I will try my utmost to ensure that
whatever I buy will not only please me but will make my partner
feel sexy as well. This should imply that she will be able to
move comfortably and bits don’t poke out when she lifts an arm
or tries to sit down, or more importantly lie down.

Visiting any shop that has lingerie in is bound to be a big deal
the first time I try it but I’m a grown man and I should be able
to cope. The sales assistant probably won’t think that the stuff
I buy is for me unless I say something embarrassingly stupid and
wear fake breasts. In fact, there’s a very good chance she’s
dealt with people like me, and people like you, on a fairly
regular basis. You know, the kind of person who skulks around by
the knickers looking around shiftily and sweating a lot. In
fact, come to think of it, it’s probably best if I don’t do
that, and just head straight over to her instead. She will
probably be very helpful.

I saw a sign in a lingerie shop that I passed three times the
other day and it said they would gift wrap the item. I decided
there and then that if I ever built up the courage to go in the
shop and actually buy any lingerie, instead of keep walking past
it, I would definitely take advantage of that offer. I think
being confronted by me carrying a Christmas cracker wrapped
present and a proud smile like your son or daughter gets the
first time they pee on their own would probably detract from the
overall romanticism of the gesture. Besides, I wouldn’t have to
carry it home in a way that meant others might be able to see
what I’d bought.

I can’t wait to finally see her wearing the new lingerie I buy.
I guess the only thing that’s left to do now is actually find
out her size and go and buy something appropriate, that is not a
latex nurse’s outfit.

Do I Have A Healthy Prostate Gland?

There was a time in history when there was no awareness of the prostate let alone diagnosis and treatment. Countless numbers of men throughout the ages have suffered and died as a result of this ignorance.

Through the miracles of modern medicine, today prostate disease is well defined and is no longer necessarily considered a death sentence. The most effective methods for handling prostate disease are knowledge and prevention.

In our article here we will help you understand prostate disease, various diagnostic tools and provide recommendations for treatment.

WHAT IS THE PROSTATE?

The first step toward understanding how the prostate affects your health is to learn what the prostate is and how it functions.

It is surprising how little many men know about such an important part of their anatomy. The prostate is an important segment of the male reproductive system. It is a gland that is located in the lower abdominal cavity, just below the bladder, in front of the rectum and behind the pubic bone.

It partially surrounds the urethra. The urethra is the channel that carries urine to the penis from the bladder and it runs right through the prostate. A healthy prostate is about the size of a walnut, weighs approximately 1 ounce and is shaped similar to a donut.

There are “seminal vesicles” that are attached to the prostate. They produce a protein that mixes with prostatic fluid which forms semen. How this works is that tubes from the testicles carry sperm up to the prostate where sperm is mixed with the seminal vesicle and prostatic fluids.

This fluid is ejaculated during orgasm through ejaculatory ducts that connect to the urethra. In addition, the prostate helps to control the flow of urine.

Nearly every man will experience some type of prostate problem during their lifetime. Men who are over forty-five may experience an enlargement of the prostate. While this is not a problem in itself, it is uncomfortable and can be a forerunner to other more serious maladies which we will discuss this further.

SYMPTOMS OF PROSTATE PROBLEMS

Enlargement of the prostate is called benign prostate hypertrophy, or BPH. While this growth is usually considered a nuisance, if a man experiences problems with burning, or difficult urination at any time, the prudent course of action is consulting a urologist.

Other symptoms may be:

• A feeling of having to push out urine.

• A sensation that the bladder is not emptying.

• Increased urinating, especially at night.

• An intermittent starting and stopping of the urinary stream

After a diagnosis of BPH, many men will just continue to live with the symptoms and subsequent discomfort. It is not a life threatening condition, and there are treatments. In some cases surgery might be considered if the enlargement is significant.

DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

Prostate cancer can occur in any man but there are certain “risk groups.” Younger African American men appear to have twice the risk and fatalities of Caucasians. Sadly, many are diagnosed before they reach the age of 50.

Another risk group is men who have a family history of prostate cancer, placing them in the same group who may contract the disease before the age of 50.

The only method to determine whether you are at risk for prostate cancer is diagnostic testing. The earlier you are screened the higher your chances of survival.
